Twoedged Sword

The TwoEdged Sword is mentioned four times in the Bible. It is that which the saints of God are to have “in their hand” along with the praise of the LORD in their mouth, Psa 149:6. It is that which portrays the pointed end of life and its sinful pleasures for the “strange woman” that would easily lead a simple minded man off into a life of fornication, drunkenness and wickedness, Pro 5:4.

It is representative of the “sword of the Spirit which is the word of God” in Eph 6:17. Then we see that the “Word of God” is sharper than any twoedged sword in Heb 4:12 and that it is “piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit” — and that it “is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” of every son of Adam ever born.

And finally, it is the sword which goes out from the mouth of the Lord Jesus Christ as He walks among the candlesticks of His churches and eventually returns in glory to this earth to defeat that man of sin whom He “will consume with the Spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of His coming!” Rev 1:16; Rev 19:15 and II Thess 2:3, 8.

We pray that you will be edified and encouraged in these articles to study your Bible and let God’s word penetrant deep into your heart and mind as you probe its depths and draw near to the Lord our God and His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.
